Former president of Azad Kashmir and leader of Tehreek-e- Azadi, Abdul Qayyum has died on July 10 (today) in Rawalpindi after a long illness, while his furnel prayer would be paid afternoon in Shakarparian ground, Islamabad.
Sardar Abdul Qayyum was the supreme leader of All Jammu Kashmir Muslim Conference, he was elected 14 times as a president of Muslim Conference. However, he received honour of firing for the first time against Indian troops for Dogra rule in Kashmir.
Whereas, he was honoured with the title of Mard-e Mujahid for leading role in Tehreek-e Azadi in August 1947 by Kashmiris.
He was elected four times as president of Azad Kashmir and one time as prime minister, President Mamnoon Hussain expressed grief over his death and said in a statement that he was one of the founder of Tehreek-e-Azadi and his services would be remember ever.
