French CSO-1 Reconnaissance Satellite Successfully Launched

Paris (December 20, 2018): The French Defense Ministry’s CSO-1 reconnaissance satellite on the Russian Soyuz carrier rocket was launched successfully on Wednesday from Guyana Space Center (GSC) in the northwest of Kourou in French Guiana. According to the live video of the French space agency, the National Centre for Space Studies (CNES), the CSO-1 satellite successfully orbited at an altitude of about 800 km, 61 minutes after the launch.

The CSO network will be operated by the CNES and the Directorate General of Armaments (DGA), on behalf of the Defense Ministry.
