Senior Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and former federal minister Jahangir Badar’s funeral prayer was offered and he was burred in Miani graveyard next to his father in Lahore.
The funeral prayer of senior politician was performed at Punjab University ground and was attended by former PM Yousaf Raza Gillani, Raha Pervez Asharf, chief minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah, speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, opposition leader Khursheed Shah, former governor Punjab Ch Muhammad Sarwar, former chairman senate Nayyar Bukhari and other party leadership and politician in large numbers.
PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari expressed grief over the demise of Badar and announced a three-day mourning period for the party.
Jahangir Badar was a senior party leader, and had served as PPP’s secretary general, among other positions in the party. He was one of the most die-hard workers, who started his political career as a student. He became a member National Assembly from Lahore in 1988, and also served as a Cabinet minister under Benazir Bhutto.
