Getting Justice In Pakistan Has Become Difficult: Shakeel Awan

Islamabad (June 13, 2018): Shakeel Awan, who filed disqualification plea against Sheikh Rasheed said on Wednesday that SC declared Sheikh Rasheed eligible to contest elections, despite of his confession of committing a mistake.

Talking to the newsmen outside SC after the verdict, Shakeel Awan said it’s difficult to get justice in Pakistan, adding that case against Sheikh Rasheed’s disqualification took 18 months in the election tribunal, which had to give the verdict within 4 months.

Shakeel Awan said that the SC’s Verdict proved that getting justice in Pakistan is getting difficult, but we will keep knocking the doors of courts for justice.

On the other hand, Saad Rafique, Central leader of N League said that they do not support disqualifications of the political leaders from the court and will compete against Sheikh Rasheed in the political arena.

In his tweet message, Saad Rafique further added all rules and regulations have been made for Nawaz Sharif only.

On the other hand, Former Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said that Awami Muslim League (AML) Chief Sheikh Rashid’s end should be in the political arena.

Reacting to Supreme Court’s verdict about Sheikh Rashid, Rana Sanaullah said that ousting a party leader poses negative effects on the politics.I am not in a support of disqualifying a politician on technical grounds, he added.

The ex-minister said that Sheikh Rashid will have political death on July 25.

Earlier today, the Apex Court dismissed disqualification petition against Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid.

The verdict was announced by Justice Azmat and came by a majority of 2-1. Justice Qazi disagreed with the decision.

Talking to the newsmen, after SC’s Decision in his favour, Sheikh Rasheed thanked God for the decision in his favour and said he had done nothing wrong.

A three-member bench headed by Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and comprising Justice Qazi Faez Isa and Justice Sajjad Ali Shah announced the verdict, which was reserved on March 20.
