ISLAMABAD: Minister for Planning and Development Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar says the government is committed to much needed structural reforms to ensure sustainable development in the country.
Addressing Pakistan-US Alumni Conference in Islamabad on Saturday, he said the previous governments had been shying away from structural reforms because it is a difficult task to do.
The Minister said the government is taking solid steps to stabilize the economy of the country adding that human capital development is being given special emphasis.
He said Pakistan has great potential for development owing to its geographical position and the coastal belt while he said Prime Minister Imran Khan is going to pay a visit to the United States this month.
He expressed hope that the visit will prove to be a new phase of rebuilding the bilateral ties on the horizon.
Welcoming the alumni conference, the Minister said such events prove quite helpful in the understanding the culture of each other country.
