ISLAMABAD: The government has decided to allow Jamiat Ulma-e-Islam- Fazal to hold Azadi March in the capital conditionally while the march will be conditioned to implement Supreme Court and Islamabad High Court decisions.
The government negotiating team headed by Defence Minister Pervez Khattak called on Prime Minister Imran Khan and briefed him about the contacts made with the opposition parties.
The press release issued by PM office said that the government fully believed in democratic norms and allow holding of the Azadi March, however, Supreme Court and Islamabad High court verdicts exist regarding demonstrations in the capital and its implementation must be ensured while the interior ministry will set the strategy about it.
Sources said that Prime Minister Imran Khan talking to the negotiation committee said that the government will not create a hurdle for people by blocking roads.
The PM directed the committee to keep on negotiating the opposition parties while the government committee said that they will try to convince the opposition to hold talks before October 27 and expressed hope that the opposition will accept the government offer.
