Islamabad (January 15, 2018): Prime Minister’s Youth Program has left an indelible impression on the socio economic landscape of the country in different sectors ranging from poverty alleviation to entrepreneurship development.
Radio Pakistan Islamabad correspondent Zahid Hameed reports that the program launched in 2013 has a broad canvas of six schemes, which enabled the youth and poor segments of population to get good employment opportunities, secure economic empowerment and access higher education and IT tools.
Under Prime Minister’s Youth Business Loan scheme, an amount of 20.52 billion rupees has so far been disbursed amongst 20,499 people. Loan recovery rate has also been remarkable at ninety one percent.
Over 9.5 billion rupees have been disbursed under the Prime Minister’s interest free loan scheme, which included sixty four percent female and sixty thousand beneficiaries of Benazir Income Support Program.
One hundred thousand youth have so far benefited from Prime Minister’s Youth Skill development program while over 95 thousand youth were provided with internship in different departments under Prime Minister’s youth training program.
Over the last three years, three hundred thousand laptops were provided to the students under the laptop scheme while under the fee reimbursement scheme, an amount of six point eight billion rupees has so far been disbursed.
