ISLAMABAD: Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry on Wednesday said that the government prepared procedure to control spread of hate speeches and statements on social media while few people were arrested in this regards who misused the platform.
The information minister hinted commencement of large-scale crackdowns on social media in order to ‘stop spreading hate, extremist and terror content’.
Fawad Chaudhry, while addressing a workshop in Islamabad, said that the government has planned to stop flow of hate speeches and statements. He said that few arrests were also made against the persons who used the medium for issuance of their ‘fatwas’.
He was of the view that Pakistan was successfully brought out of extremism and terrorism but now nobody will be allowed to spread hatred.
The federal minister said that the world was facing challenge of extremism in their societies while Pakistan will have to control such content. He claimed that although authorities have controlled flow of hate content besides making arrests over misusage of social media.
