Govt To Unveil Budget 2018-19 Today

Islamabad (April 27, 2018): The PML-N government will present its sixth consecutive Federal Budget for the next financial year in National Assembly today with an estimated outlay of over 550 trillion rupees.

The National Assembly has been summoned to meet today for presentation of the federal budget.

The budget will lend focus on improving economic growth, maintaining fiscal discipline, boosting exports besides providing relief to the masses and promoting investment for job creation.

The total outlay of the budget likely to be 5500 billion rupees, tax revenue collection target will be set Rs 4433 biillion  while the total deficit of the budget will be 1870.The target of growth rate has been proposed to set at 602 per cent, agricultural development target will be 3.8 per cent and the salaries of government employees will be increase by 10 percent.

It will also focus on social sector development and revenue enhancement measures.

On revenue side, the government would introduce measures for bringing improvement in the system of tax collection, broadening the tax base, and facilitation to tax payers.

On the other hand, opposition parties in National Assembly have decided to lodge a strong protest during the budget session today.

The protest has been planned as opposition parties, including both the major political parties, Pakistan Peoples Party and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf believe that the outgoing government of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has no justification for presenting budget for the whole year.The opposition would also protest the budget presentation by PML-N during Senate session.

According to the opposition, the incumbent government should present the budget for four months, till the next government takes over after the general elections.

The incumbent government is expected to conclude its five-year term on May 31, after which the caretaker government will take over to hold the general elections – expected to be scheduled in the last week of July.
