Lahore (December 15, 2017): Former prime minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi have appeared before a team of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore in a graft case for possessing assets beyond their known sources of income.
This is the second appearance of the two cousins from Gujrat before the anti-graft body’s team.
The NAB Lahore had sought details of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Pervez Elahi’s assets, and summoned them in a case of misuse of authority and having assets beyond known sources of income today. Today, they appeared before the NAB team.According to the latest status of this list, the case against the PML-Q leadership has been at the stage of ‘investigation’. The NAB had given the date of completing this case on September 30, 2017, but the investigation could not be completed within the given time frame and is still under process.
Sources said that the ex-prime minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and ex-Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi were involved in a Rs2.42 billion corruption case. A case against the Chaudhrys of Gujrat was also framed in 2000 before their joining the then military dictator Pervez Musharraf.
