Green Shirts win home ODI series after 6 years

LAHORE: Pakistan defeated Zimbabwe by 6 wickets in 2nd One Day International (ODI) match of the series in home ground post restoration of international cricket after six years where Pakistani team took decisive lead in ODI series by 2-0 after 21 months.

Pakistani team is in decline during last two years, whereas, national team won last ODI series 3-2 against Sri Lanka in 2013 at neutral venue United Arab Emirates (UAE) but Green Shirts failed to defend to Asia Cup title. Pakistan faced 2-1 defeated in ODI series against Sri Lanka.

Pakistan faced consecutive defeats in various ODI series since 2013 as lost series against Australia by 3-0, New Zealand 3-2, New Zealand’s home series 2-0 and failed to go ahead of World Cup quarter final. Later, Green Shirts exhibited most humiliating performance against Bangladesh by losing matches with 3-0. During the last 21 months, Pakistan had managed to get victory in ODI series after losing five series and two tournaments.
