Hakeem Saeed’s 21st Death Anniversary Being Observed Today

WEB DESK: The 19th death anniversary of a prominent scholar, medical researcher, philanthropist and former Governor of Sindh, Hakim Muhammad Saeed is being observed today.

Born in New Delhi on January 9, 1920, he migrated to Pakistan after it was created in 1947 and settled in Karachi where he laid down the foundation of Hamdard natural and herbal medicine manufacturing plant which soon became a prominent medical, educational, literary, publication and Islamic institute of Pakistan.

He passed a medical examination from Tayyeba College, Delhi in 1939 and started helping his elder brother in the works of Hamdard Dawakhana, the foundation of which was laid by his father Hafiz Abdul Majeed in 1906.

Hakeem Saeed founded Hamdard University in 1991.

Hakim Mohammed Saeed authored several books which include books on religion, Tibb, health and sciences, literature, social and scientific topics and travelogues.

He was awarded Nishan-e-Imtiaz in 2002, in recognition of his services. He was martyred on 17th October in 1998.

After the death of his father, elder brother Hakim Abdul Hameed took care of Hakim Saeed.
