Have Earned Nothing From But Lost Much To Politics: PM Nawaz

Islamabad (July 13, 2017): Saying that the collective votes of those demanding resignation from him are less than the votes that PMLN secured Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif added that the report of the JIT that probed the Panamagate case is a collection of assumptions, allegations, and accusations about the private businesses run by his family members.

Chairing the meeting of federal cabinet here at the Prime Minister House the prime minister said that he has earned nothing from politics but has lost much because of it. Projects worth billions are being installed but not a single instance of corruption is being proved, the prime minister added while addressing the federal cabinet.

The meeting approved treaties signed with various countries.

During the meeting which is underway here the overall political, security and economic situation in the country. The appointment of Managing Director Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited was also approved during the meeting.

It also approved terms and conditions of the appointment of Member Gas, and Member Oil of Oil and Gas of Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority.

The cabinet is discussing overall political and economic situation in the country with special focus on the JIT report and Panama Leak.

Sources said that the emergency cabinet meeting has been called amidst growing calls for his resignation after the JIT report was submitted in Supreme Court.

They said that the Prime Minister will take his ministers and coalition partners into confidence over the situation that has arisen following the release of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) report.

The decision to convene the cabinet was taken yesterday during an “informal meeting” at the Prime Minister’s House, attended by members of PM Sharif’s close aides and his legal team including Attorney General Ashtar Ausaf Ali.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and the prime minister’s daughter Maryam Nawaz Sharif were also present in the meeting, the third such huddle in as many days.

Sources said that participants of the meeting were dismayed over some of the nasty remarks made by the JIT members about the Sharif family and decided that the lawyers would raise the issue before the Supreme Court, with a request to expunge them from the report.
