Hazara Community Refuses To End Protest

Quetta (May 01, 2018): Talks of Interior Minister, Ahsan Iqbal failed with the protesters of Hazara Community, who are protesting against the target killing in Quetta.

According to the details, Majlis-e-Wahdatull Muslimen(MWM) is protesting outside the  Balochistan Assembly against target killing of Hazara Community, Hazara Democratic Party also participating in the protest.On the other hand, women of the Hazara community also observing strike outside the Quetta Press Club.

Interior Minister, Ahsan Iqbal reached at Quetta due to deteriorating situation of law and order, where he held a meeting, in which provincial interior minister, Sarfaraz Bugti, IG FC and IG Police were present.Later on, Ahsan Iqbal reached in the sit-in  of MWM and insured them for the protection, but the protesters refused to end their sit-in till demands are not met.

Yesterday,  at least three people were killed and three other sustained injuries in a firing incident at Quetta’s Jan Mohammad Road in Quetta.

According to the details, unidentified attackers opened indiscriminate firing at people sitting inside a shop on Quetta’s Jan Muhammad Road. The assailants managed to escape unhurt after the attack, police said.

The injured were rushed to nearby Civil Hospital, Quetta, for medical treatment.

Police are suspecting it to be an act of target killing, however, the actual motive behind the attack is yet to be established while police are carrying out investigations into the matter.

A state of emergency has been imposed at the hospital where the injured have been shifted. Moreover, shops in the area were closed following the incident.

The identities of those killed and injured in the attack are not yet ascertained.It may be recalled that on April 28, two people were also shot dead in what was suspected to be a targeted attack by unidentified persons in the city’s Shahra-e-Iqbal area.

According to the police, Jaffar Ali and his nephew Mohammad Ali were at the former’s shop on Jamaluddin Afghani Road in the area when unidentified persons opened fire at them and fled the site.

Later, rescue personnel shifted the bodies to Civil Hospital Quetta.Police said initial investigation revealed that the firing was a targeted attack.
