Islamabad (November 26, 2017): A high-level meeting between Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Chief of Army Staff Qamar Jawed Bajwa is currently underway at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad to discuss the law and order situation across the country after Faizabad operation.
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal Director-General (DG) Inter-Services Intelligence Rizwan Akhtar and other high officials are also present in the meeting, said sources.
Earlier, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa had cut short his United Arab Emirates visit and arrived homeland. The army chief was on a visit to the United Arab Emirates and cut short his trip to reach the country last night.
Whereas Rangers have been given charge of the Faizabad operation in a bid to control the chaos in the capital. Around 1,000 Rangers personnel, who were deployed in Islamabad yesterday, have been re-positioned to the front-lines of the security operation.
Islamabad police and FC personnel, who were yesterday on the frontlines, have been relegated to back positions, as decided in a meeting of police, capital administration and Rangers officials on Saturday night.
