Karachi: Sindh police department made large-scale transfers and postings in Karachi after detention of senior Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Khawaja Izharul Hassan on Friday.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Malir Rao Anwar was suspended over taking leader of the opposition in Sindh Assembly Khawaja Izharul Hassan into custody without taking permission from the speaker which is necessary for arresting a sitting member of assembly. Malir’s additional charge was given to SSP Korangi Noman Siddique. Karachi East DIG Kamran Fazal was also removed from his post and his services were handed over to the federal government.
DIG East’s additional charge was given to DIG West Zulfiqar Larak. Sources said that all Station House Officers (SHOs) of Malir district are likely to be changed.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif took notice of Khawaja Izharul Hassan’s detention and directed the concerned authorities to take action as per law.
The Prime Minister telephoned Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, following which the CM suspended Rao Anwar.
It is pertinent to mention here that Additional IG Karachi was conspicuous by his absence during the whole episode of Kh Izhar detention.
