QUETTA: At least ten persons died and 17 others sustained injuries in a huge blast at Jinnah Road near Kechahry Bazar, Quetta, on Monday.
The rescue teams have been sent to the blast site while the law enforcement agencies have cordoned off the area.
The injured have been shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Police confirmed that the blast damaged nearby building and vehicles. Police and security forces cordoned off the area and are conducting an investigation into the incident.
The blast took place as a demonstration was ongoing near the press club. Several vehicles parked in the vicinity have also been damaged due to the impact of the blast.
Meanwhile, Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan directed the IGP to submit a report within the next 24 hours.
Taking notice of the incident, Prime Minister Imran Khan grieved the loss of human lives in the blast.
Relief efforts are being carried out in the area. An emergency has been imposed in the Civil Hospital to deal with the situation.
