SRINAGAR: Paying tributes to the martyrs of Karbala Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Monday condemned the restrictions placed on the Ashura procession.
Ashura will be observed with religious zeal across Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday while government has decided to impose restrictions in parts of Srinagar to prevent traditional procession in the city-center.
In a statement Mirwaiz said, “The blood spilled in the deserts of Karbala around 1500 hundred year ago would continue to spread the message of struggle towards the right path. The sacrifice of Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions have set up an example of righteousness, truthfulness, and humanity before us. Karbala reflects how the right wins over wrong.”
The Hurriyat (M) chairman said that Karbala shows that those people who sacrifice their lives on the path of truth ultimately prevail. Condemning authorities’ decision on putting restrictions on Ashura procession Mirwaiz said, “Governments decision of imposing curfew to restrict the march of mourners and common people is a clear case of frustration.”
