ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Bar Council (IBC) on Tuesday adopted a resolution in favor of apex court judge Justice Qazi Faiz Isa.
The resolution passed in favor of Justice Faiz has termed the reference again the judge as an attack on the freedom of the judiciary.
According to details, the Islamabad Bar Council organised a meeting to discuss the matter of references filed against the honorable judges. The meeting was attended by president Islamabad District Bar, General Secretary, vice chairman, president High Court and other lawyers.
The resolution passed in favor of Justice Qazi Fazi Esa states that: “The references against judges has been filed to create pressure on the judges. The government should avoid forwarding such references whose only target is to attack the judiciary.”
The Islamabad bar council in its declaration has announced to attend the Bar Council meeting scheduled on June 9 and 10th. The meeting also vowed to adopt a strategy which would halt the attack on judiciary in the near future. It also demanded the government to withdraw the references against judges.
Earlier, Supreme Court’s senior judge Justice Qazi Faez Isa has penned another letter to President Arif Alvi stating that a character assassination campaign against him had been kicked off on the media.
Justice Isa has said in his letter written to the president, “Mr President my due process and fair trial constitutional protection has been violated even before the council has issued me a notice and I have had an opportunity to submit my reply to the reference”.
He questioned whether leaking selected documents in the press did not point to ulterior motives.
The apex court judge said that senior officials of the Ministry of Law and Ministry of Information, and treasury members were spreading selected parts of the reference filed against him with the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) by the federal government.
