According to annual ICC ODI ranking update, top teams position remained unchanged, while council had made two years analysis of annual update instead of three years by mistake, according to which, Bangladesh had to be promoted, while Pakistan, England and Sri Lanka had to be demote.
International Cricket Council update ODI International ranking on May 1 every year, in which every team’s three-year old performance, drop and current year performance is included. Likewise, the performance was to include April 30, 2016 instead of April 30, 2013.
ICC officials informed Bangladesh about the expected update based on two-year performance instead of three-years, according to which Bengal Tigers will be on fifth position with promotion of two points for the first time in ICC ranking. Hence, the teams positions remained unchanged from May 1, 2013 to April 30, 2016.
Pakistan survived from worst demotion to ninth position, while Bangladesh’s dream to secure fifth position could not be fulfilled.
