IG Reveals Crucial Info Regarding Knife Attacker in Senate Comm.

Islamabad (October 17, 2017): The Inspector General (IG) police has shared crucial information regarding knife attacker before the senate standing functional committee.

The committee’s meeting was held in the chair of Nasreen Jalil. It was also attended by Farhatullah Babar, chief secretary, home secretary Sindh and police and Rangers officials.

IG Sindh AD Khawaja told the committee that the police has taken data of all 16 SIMs,  which were registered on arrested accused Muhammad Waseem’s name, however not a single call was made from any of the SIM. There is no evidence found regarding his journey to Karachi.

“Overall 38 suspects have been arrested so far, the data of 200 mobiles have been investigated and 1500 calls have been traced. There are 1500 red colour motorcycles are registered in Gulistan-e-Jauhar,” he briefed the committee that unluckily there was no particular CCTV system exists in Karachi that was become the main hurdle in the arrest of accused.Additional IG Karachi Mushtaq Mehar said, in his briefing, that media has created hype and presented the incidents more than their worth. He added that 30 to 40 mentally retarded were investigated and arrested some of criminals in this connection.

“Police is working on different angels to take the issue to its logical end,” he said adding that police will soon get vital success in knife attacker case.

On October 16, the accused Muhammad Waseem, who has been allegedly been involved in knife attacks on women in Sahiwal some time ago, was arrested by a team of Karachi police for suspicion of his involvement in Karachi’s knife attacks.

Though Karachi police is suspecting Waseem’s involvement in Karachi knife attacks spree, but the accused reportedly denied his involvement in the case in his first statement given to police.
