During the course of hearing, IGP Sindh AD Khuwaja, who is considered as an upright and professional officer,  offered that he is ready to reign voluntarily in the best interest of Sindh police.

The response of IGP was submitted in the court by his counsel.

In his response he pleaded the court to remove his name as respondent from the constitutional petition.

The top cop of the province told the bench that it was made very difficult for him for the last six month to continue as IGP.

The reply also contains the reforms carried out by the incumbent IGP during last one year.  He added it has become very difficult for him to implement the reforms in the police department and discharge his day to day professional duties.

He took the plea that transfers and postings in police department were being made without his knowledge. He offered that in the best interest of Sindh police he was ready to resign.

Advocate General Sindh opposed the stance of IGP.  Justice Munib Akhtar remarked that good officer can discharge their duties even in worst situations.

The court refused to vacate the stay order restraining the provincial government from removing the IGP, saying at this point the court can neither remove the name of the respondent nor vacate the stay order.

The judge asked counsel of the IGP as to when his client changed his mind.

Counsel of the IGP Sindh Shahab Osto said after the hearing that the court had praised the IGP as professional and competent officer. He added that the court had not yet took any decision on the peal of the IGP.

The counsel said that the court had asked IGP to continue his duties.

During previous hearings Advocate General Sindh Zameer Ahmed Ghumro while advancing arguments had pleaded the court to hear the case on urgent basis. The AGP said that the instant matter was of important nature, adding that it was being delayed unnecessarily.

He submitted that there was no working relationship between the IGP and Chief Minister Sindh which was affecting government’s affairs.
