IHC Disposes Of Narowal Sports City Complex Reference, Acquits Ahsan Iqbal

Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) today disposed of the case against Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal regarding Narowal Sports City Complex and acquitted Ahsan Iqbal in the case.

A divisional bench of the IHC headed by Chief Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Saman Rifat Imtiaz heard the case.

The court during the course of hearing questioned to apprise the court where did corruption happen in the reference? and when did you get this case? to which Investigation officer (IO) informed the court that he got the case in 2018 and Ahsan Iqbal was arrested in 2019.

Honourable Chief Justice questioned that Central Development Working Party (CDWP) had 30 peple did all conduct corruption? you neither knew about Divisional Development Working Party (DDWP) nor you know about BPSD. The NAB itself wrote that first loss happened due to keeping the project in pending.

The CJ said that you should arrest those who stopped the project till 2009. CJ Athar Minallah said to the IO ‘you need a lot of training as you play like this with credibility of the people.

The court questioned that who stopped the project from 2000 to 2010? to which the IO apprised the court that it was martial law at that time then the CJ said you should arrest those. Why did you arrest Ahsan Iqbal? the CJ questioned, the IO responded that owing to statement of approver while the court remarked that the too much damage to a person’s credibility you give through these arrest who is responsible for this?

The court said that as per your statement martial law or you have incurred harm in it.

The court observed that when you make false cases when these cases declared false then you can’t defend it.

The court disposing of the reference acquitted Ahsan Iqbal from the case.
