IHC Issues Notices to All Parties on Plea against PMDC Dissolution

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday issued notices to all concerned parties on plea against the presidential ordinance that dissolved the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC).

The IHC judge Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani conducted the hearing on a petition challenging dissolution of PMDC today.

The court also summoned Secretary to the President, secretaries of the Ministry of Law and the Cabinet Division and others to submit their reply over the matter.

During the hearing, the PMDC lawyer requested the court to revoke the presidential ordinance and restoration of the council’s employees on their jobs.

The petitioner also pleaded the court to forbid the government from any action against the PMDC employees.

The petition said that the PMDC was dissolved by a presidential ordinance on Oct 21.

Meanwhile, Justice Kayani rejected the petitioner’s request, saying that the presidential ordinance cannot be revoked without listening to the stance of the attorney general.

Later, the court issued notices to all concerned parties and adjourned the further hearing of the case until November 08.
