IHC Summons DG NAB In Al-Azizia Steel Mills Case

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has summoned Director General National Accountability Bureau (NAB) while hearing a petition filed by the former premier Nawaz Sharif, seeking suspension of latter’s seven-year sentence in a case pertaining to Al-Azizia Steel Mills for granting him a post-arrest bail on medical grounds, AbbTakk news reported on Tuesday.

As per details, a two-member bench of the IHC comprised on Justice Mohsin Akhtar and Justice Amir Farooq heard a case pertaining to a petition filed by the former premier Nawaz Sharif, seeking suspension of latter’s seven-year sentence in a case pertaining to Al-Azizia Steel Mills for granting him a post-arrest bail on medical grounds.

The court during the hearing expressed its anger towards the anti-graft body for not submitting an answer in the said case since the past three weeks.

Justice Amir Farooq of the IHC in his remarks questioned that the NAB was supposed to submit an answer in two weeks and the answer has not been submitted in three weeks.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar in his remarks also expressed his anger towards the NAB and said that the NAB has wasted the court’s time.

The court, however, after a short hearing ordered the NAB’s director Irfan Mangi to make an appearance before the court in a personal capacity on the next hearing and adjourned the case’s hearing till June 19.

On the other hands, the spokesperson of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Marriyum Aurangzeb slammed the anti-graft body for not submitting an answer in the said case in the given time.
