ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court has set January 28 for hearing of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif bail plea on medical grounds against his sentence.
The two-member bench of Islamabad High court will hear the bail plea.
The IHC divisional bench will be comprised of justice Amir Farooq and justice Mohsin Kiayni.
The incarcerated premier was imprisoned in Kot Lakhpat Jail after December 24 verdict in Al-Azizia Mills reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
Khawaja Haris, counsel of former PM Nawaz Sharif, submitted the plea in the IHC while National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman, Accountability Court and Superintendent Kot Lakhpat Jail were made parties in the petition.
The bail plea stated that Nawaz Sharif was facing cardiac issues while the medical board of Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) has advised him to be shifted to hospital. The former prime minister has already undergone three heart surgeries while the petitioner needed dedicated treatment, it added. Moreover, medical reports of Sharif was also submitted in the IHC.
