Web Desk (November 20, 2017): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan, on Monday, lambasted ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif for his recent remarks that only people will judge him over corruption allegations against his family.
“Nawaz Sharif’s ad nauseam slogan that people will do his ehtesab [accountability] is an attempt to fool all the people all the time but people cannot be fooled repeatedly,” the PTI chief tweeted, saying the deposed premier’s attempt to “stir people into doing his ehtesab” was a violation of the Constitution and a call for mob justice.
NS’s ad nauseum slogan that ppl will do his ehtesab is an attempt to fool all the ppl all the time but ppl cannot be fooled repeatedly. They know [heir role under Constitution is to elect their reps while it is Judiciary that is tasked with upholding the law.

“They know their role under Constitution is to elect their representatives while it is judiciary that is tasked with upholding the law,” he said. “So it is judiciary that has constitutional duty of ehtesab.”
So it is Judiciary that has constitutional duty of ehtesab. NS trying to stir ppl into doing his ehtesab is also a violation of constitution & a call for mob justice. Undermining the judiciary and the Constitution shows NS has no legal defence ag the criminal charges against him https://t.co/T3iGUHHDck

Claiming that his political opponent did not have any legal defence against the ‘criminal’ charges against him, Imran accused Sharif of undermining the country’s judiciary and constitution. “Now Nawaz Sharif and the Sharif mafia are desperate to use all extralegal means to save his Rs300b laundered and stashed abroad,” he said.

The PTI leader’s remarks came just a day after the former prime minister kicked off his party’s national mass contact campaign in wake of hostile court verdicts against the ruling family.
Addressing his supporters in Abbottabad on Sunday, Sharif said there was just one accountability court, comprising 200 million people, and they would hold everyone accountable who denied justice to their leader who was elected to power with popular votes. “I placed my review petition before the people’s court because the SC’s questionable decisions tarnished their global image,” he said.
