Imran Should learn Lessons from PML N, PPP Long Rivalry: Saad

Lahore (July 01, 2017): Railways Minister Saad Rafique on Saturday said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan might be reluctant to indulge in politics of abuse and accusations but his close aides are advising him to do so.

In an address to a gathering of party workers, Rafique said that Imran should learn the lessons that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan Peoples Party learned after decades of rivalry.

The minister said that his party would not stoop to the level of PTI leaders and its young workers, who do not realise the decades of hard work and sacrifices political leaders gave for democracy.

Mentioning examples from the past, Rafique said elected leaders have always been removed by “unconventional means”.

“Why is that whenever PML-N is in power due to popular vote, there are attempts to remove it through unconventional means?”

“People might disagree with our politics but even our opponents can’t deny we fought against civil and military dictatorships,” Rafique added.

Saad Rafique further said that challenges confronting the country can only be overcome through continuity of the democratic process.

He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and PML-N have given sacrifices for restoration of judiciary.

Saad Rafique said the country is on the path of prosperity and peace due to the democratic system and credit for it goes to Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif who developed consensus on all issues.

Saad Rafique said that it is time to adopt better democratic attitude as stronger democracy will help discourage anti-democratic forces.

The Railways Minister said that political parties should also bring democracy within the parties and turncoats should be turned down like the PML-N which has not given the positions to such politicians in policy making. He exalted former Chief of Army Staff General (Retired) Raheel Sharif for playing an important role in strengthening of democracy in the country.

The Railways Minister said that enemies of Pakistan have become upset with launch of the mega project of China Pakistan Economic Corridor.

He said that no one will be allowed to hatch conspiracies against the current leadership of the country and mega development projects being completed across the country.
