PM Summons CM Punjab Over Increase In Salaries Of MPAs: Sources

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has summoned Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar in Islamabad to discuss various affairs including approval of the bill in Punjab assembly which sought raise in salaries of assembly members, sources stated.

Sources have stated that Chief Minister Punjab has embarked for federal cabinet to meet the Premier.

Earlier on February 13, Punjab Assembly unanimously approved a bill which sought an increase in salaries and amenities of legislators.

As per the bill, MPA’s per month salary and incentives were raised from Rs83000 to Rs0.21 million.

The basic salary, according to the details, was raised from Rs18,000 to Rs80,000/month, daily allowance from Rs1000 to Rs4000/month and house rent from Rs29,000 to Rs50,000/month.

The bill has fixed utility allowance from Rs6000 to Rs20, 000/month and hospitality allowance fromRs10, 000 to Rs20, 000/month. The Punjab CM will now be able to receive per month package of over Rs0.35 million.

Prime Minister, the very next day, expressed his concern over the affair.

He took to Twitter and expressed his concerns over the increase in salaries and amenities of Punjab’s lawmakers.

He wrote on his timeline; “I am extremely disappointed by the decision of Punjab Assembly to raise pays & privileges of MPAs, Ministers & esp CM.”
