US urges India, Pakistan to pursue direct dialogues

WASHINGTON: United States State Department spokesperson Mark Toner said that the encourage India and Pakistan to pursue direct dialogues and restore durable peace in the region.

While addressing to media, he said that they knew about the speeches of Indian and Pakistani officials in the United Nations General Assembly. He said US had close relationship with India and had security cooperation with Pakistan. The spokesperson said they wanted both countries to chose the passageway of peace.

While answering a question, Toner said that Pakistan will have to take measures to decrease terror threats from its land to other neighboring countries. He sought Islamabad’s cooperation against terrorism and extremism.

Pakistan Army took great achievements against terrorism but they needed to target the militants attacking on neighboring countries, Toner added. He demanded of Pakistan to close terrorists’ safe heavens.
