India to Cut Oil Imports from Iran by November

New Delhi (June 29, 2018): India has finally surrendered to US. India’s oil ministry has asked refiners to prepare for a ‘drastic reduction or zero’ of imports of Iranian oil starting in November. US had given an ultimatum to allies,  to stop purchase of oil by November 4.According to the Indian media, India’s oil ministry held a meeting with refiners on Thursday, urging them to scout for alternatives to Iranian oil. He said in a statement that oil should be bought from another country instead of Iran and arrange alternative till November. US has warned China, Europe and India to stop purchasing oil from Iran till November 4. Otherwise, sanctions will be taken against these countries. Europe refused to stop Iran’s purchase of oil.Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj claimed that India will not implement one sided US sanction against Iran. Only UN sanctions will be accepted, but the meeting between US and India Ministers of Defense and Foreign, was cancelled. US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley met Indian Prime Minister in New Delhi on Wednesday to give the message of Trump to stop purchasing oil from Iran. After this, Mike Pompeo had a telephonic conversation with Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj and demanded that India should stop purchasing oil from Iran.
