Indian army attack on Ashura Juloos, 2 people killed

SRINAGAR: In occupied Kashmir, the authorities had imposed curfew and stringent restrictions in Srinagar and Budgam districts to prevent people from taking out Aashura processions, today.

Indian army personnel resorted to brute force injuring many mourners at Lal Chowk in Srinagar. Hurriyet leaders, Agha Syed Mujtaba and Ghulam Mohammad Nagoo were arrested along with dozens of people on the occasion.

Defying restrictions, people came out on streets and staged anti-India demonstrations in different areas of Srinagar and Budgam against the killing of two civilians by Indian troops at Chattergam. Indian police also fired teargas shells and bullets on protests in Nowgam.

The APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front and all other liberation organizations in their statements termed the killing of innocent civilians as an act of Indian state terrorism.

On the other hand, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Muhammad Yasin Malik  and Hurriyet Conference Jammu and Kashmir have given a call for complete strike in occupied Kashmir tomorrow to draw world attention towards the human rights violations by Indian troops in the territory.
The authorities had placed APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest to prevent him from addressing public meetings. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq paying glowing tributes to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and other martyrs of Karbala emphasized that the people of occupied Kashmir were facing Karbala like situation.

The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Muhammad Yasin Malik in its message from district jail Islamabad, said that the sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain and his companions had always been a source of inspiration for all the people fighting against oppressive forces.
