India’s Intentions to have Pakistan on FATF Blacklist Failed: Firdous

ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan said India’s ill intentions to get Pakistan included in the blacklist of Financial Action Task Force (FATF) have miserably failed.

In a series of tweets, the Special Assistant said: “Pakistan is currently in grey list and the next few months are very important.”

She questioned, “In the current scenario, why Maulana [Fazlur Rehman, chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F)] is willing to dent the image of Pakistan and its nation by symbolising it with terrorism through the party’s militia and [armed] groups.”

She elaborated that the Indian government was attempting to blacklist Pakistan at the international forum, however, Prime Minister Imran Khan has continued bringing the positive image of the country before the world through his sincere efforts.

Firdous Ashiq Awan said: “Admiration of the steps taken by incumbent government to counter money laundering and terrorism by the Financial Action Task Force is acknowledgement of our sincere efforts.”

She concluded by saying that “Pakistan is determined to take more steps in this regard.”
