Interior Minister Takes Notice of QAU Protest

The interior minister directed Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration to ensure peace and help to restore educational activities at the earliest in Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU). He also contacted with the President House on this matter.
He said that a handful of protesters will not be allowed to play with the future of thousands of other students. “I will not compromise on discipline in the universities,” he added.
His statement came a day after the QUA university was shut down for a week as it was the second closure in the last few weeks due to protest of students.

Earlier, QAU’s administration suspended a number of students, leading to more protests.The protest by Baloch Students Council at Quaid-e-Azam University continued and police registered another FIR against the protesting students.

The protesting students keep the main gate of the University shut and did not allow the shuttle service to operate.

A heavy contingent of police and FC is present at the University campus to avert any untoward incident.At the entry points of the university, police have been deployed and security measures have been increased. The shuttle service of the varsity has been suspended too.

The protesting students, who will hold a demonstration today as well, said their protest will continue until the rusticated students are reinstated.In the beginning of October, students started protesting for better facilities at the hostels and for the cancellation of a recent hike in fees.
