Interpol Rejects Pakistan’s Request to Issue Red Notice for Ishaq Dar

LONDON: Interpol has rejected Pakistan’s request to issue a red notice or red warrant for former finance minister and PML-N leader Ishaq Dar.

The interior ministry had approached Interpol requesting it to issue a red warrant against Dar who has been absconding corruption cases since 2017.

However, Interpol has rejected the ministry’s request and has given the former finance minister a clean chit.

PML-N leader Dar submitted evidence to Interpol and claimed that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has made him into a political target.

In evidence, Ishaq Dar proved to Interpol and British authorities that his name was neither in Panama Leaks nor in the Supreme Court (SC) judgement of 20th April 2017.

After reviewing the evidence submitted by Dar, Interpol, in a letter referenced LA/72615-260, has issued a certificate to Ishaq Dar about its decision confirming that he’s not subject to any red notice.

“The General Secretariat of the International Criminal Police Organisation-Interpol hereby certifies that, as of today, Mr Mohammad Ishaq Dar born on 13 May 1950, is not subject to an Interpol Notice or diffusion,” a letter read.

Sources said the Office of Legal Affairs of General Secretariat of Interpol in Lyon, France, has issued the certificate.
