KARACHI: A major progress was made in cold-blooded murder of a political worker Irshad Ranjhani on Monday as Karachi police arrested prime accused Rahim Shah who is Union Council (UC) chairman of Cattle Colony area of the metropolis.
The prime accused was arrested in light of inquiry committee findings in the brutal shooting of Ranjhani in a crowded place.
It was emerged earlier that a sit-in will be lodged by relatives of slain of Irshad Ranjhani at Karachi’s busiest road Sharea Faisal on Monday in order to protest against the murder.
Moreover, an investigation team formed by Additional Inspector General (AIG) Karachi Amir Sheikh visited the crime spot and recorded statements of eyewitnesses.
The investigation committee include DIG East Amir Farooqi and SSP East Azfar Mahesar and SSP Investigation Malir Farrukh Raza.
The committee reviewed all records filed in police station pertaining the murder case while statement of the Edhi ambulance’s driver was also recorded.
Technical evidences including CCTV footage and video clips circulating on social media were thoroughly reviewed by the investigators.
It was also emerged the investigators have also contacted Irshad’s family which was currently present in hometown Dadu city while they will record their statements on Tuesday.
