ISIS Claims Responsibility For Sri Lanka Attacks

COLOMBO: Islamic state has claimed responsibility for coordinated bombings in Sri Lanka which killed 321 people and injured about 500 others, the group’s AMAQ news agency said on Tuesday.

“The perpetrators of the attack that targeted nationals of the countries of the coalitions and Christians in Sri Lanka before yesterday are fighters from the Islamic State,” said Aamaq news agency in a press release.

The group did not give evidence for its claim.

Sri Lanka first blamed a local Islamic extremist group called National Thowheed Jamath for the attack, but officials said it had received help from an international terrorist organization.
