(September 10, 2017): The fire that erupted at the tower of Awami Markaz here has finally being brought under control by the firefighters after two hours of hectic efforts. Two young men who jumped from the burning building succumbed to their injures at a hospital.
The fire destroyed the offices and the residential apartments with all the people evacuated out of the building safely.

It may be mentioned here that the fire engulfed the five-storey Awami Markaz Tower located near parliament building this morning. Two persons who jumped from the fourth floor of the burning building were shifted to PIMS hospital in injured and unconscious condition. The condition of the two young men who were worker at a private call centre in the building is reported to be out of danger.
Fire tenders and Rescue teams as well as Rangers, police, and the authorities of Capital Development Authority (CDA) arrived at the scene building located in the high security Red Zone, which also houses embassies, in the federal capital.
Rescue sources said that despite emergency exit the two youth jumped from the building in panic. All the remaining persons present in the building at the time of fire were evacuated out of the building safely.
A total of seven fire tenders took part in the firefighting efforts to help bring the fire under control.
Meanwhile, the two youth who jumped to safety from the burning building succumbed to their injuries. Ali Raza succumbed to his injuries at Poly Clinic Hospital. The body of the other person was also shifted to the same hospital.
Meanwhile, the cooling process is underway.
