It Seems I will be Disqualified in Imran Case too: Nawaz

Islamabad (December 04, 2017): Former Prime Minister and PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif has sarcastically remarked that it seems he (Nawaz) will be disqualified in Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan and Secretary General Jahangir Tareen disqualification case too.

Nawaz Sharif appeared before the accountability court today.  During the appearance a journalist asked Nawaz that the SC has not yet announced its reserved verdict on the petition seeking disqualification of Imran Khan  and Jahangir Tareen, he sarcastically remarked “it seems I will be disqualified in Imran case too.”

Nawaz said that he was not going anywhere or leaving the country. He pledged that he would fight legal and political battle comprehensively and effectively.

The former Prime Minister said that he fulfilled his promise of ending load shedding.It is to be mentioned here that the accountability court today suspended the hearing into corruption references filed against members of the Sharif family as it awaits the Islamabad High Court’s decision in connection with a petition filed by ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif, which seeks the consolidation of the references.

The high court’s decision is expected to be announced in the afternoon today. The hearing at the accountability court will resume after the decision is announced.Earlier today, Nawaz, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law retired Captain Mohammad Safdar appeared before the accountability court after landing at Islamabad airport. The former premier was welcomed at the court by a large number of PML-N workers.The bureau’s prosecution team and three witnesses had also appeared before the court. As the hearing begun, Advocate Khawaja Harris, the counsel representing the Sharifs, requested the court to suspend proceedings till the high court announces its decision.

In turn, the court suspended proceedings till 1pm as the advocate told the bench that the verdict is expected to be announced at that time.
