Islamabad (June 14, 2017): Joint Investigation Team (JIT) investigating Sharif family wealth abroad has summoned Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s son-in -law Captain Safdar on June 24.
Following the appearance of PM Nawaz sons Hussain Nawaz and Hassan Nawaz, JIT had summoned PM on June 15 and his brother Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif on June 17, and now JIT has summoned PM’s son-in-law Captain Safdar on June 24 along with related documents.Shahbaz Sharif will appear before the six-member JIT on 17 June, two days after the prime minister’s scheduled appearance.
A spokesman for the Punjab government told that the chief minister had not yet received the JIT summons. Nawaz Sharif is set to become the first sitting prime minister to appear before any investigating agency, when he appears before the JIT on June 15, constituted to probe money laundering allegations against his family, on Thursday.The unprecedented development will make him the first incumbent to appear before such a panel, let alone one probing allegations of financial irregularities or fraud against nearly his entire family, going back three generations.
Hussain Nawaz had appeared five times and Hassan Nawaz had appeared two times before JIT so far.
