LAHORE: The second joint investigation team (JIT) formed to probe Model town incident will submit its report to the Punjab government on March 15.
According to details, the JIT recorded statements of 90 witnesses of Minhaj-ul-Quran, while 85 officials of the police department also appeared before the JIT and recorded their statements.
Punjab Police officers Mushtaq Sukhera, Rashid Langarial and Dr. Tauqeer Shah recorded their statements.
The JIT will submit the one-sided report to govt as several PML-N leaders including — former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Opposition Leader in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif, Punjab Assembly Opposition Leader Hamza Shahbaz, PML-N’s Rana Sanaullah, Former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar and former foreign minister Khawaja Asif didn’t appear before the JIT to record their statements.
Model Town Carnage Case
On June 17, 2014, 14 people were killed and 100 others injured after police launched an assault on PAT supporters gathered outside the residence of Tahirul Qadri in Model Town, Lahore.
A subsequent judicial inquiry report on the incident pointed fingers at then Punjab law minister Rana Sanaullah and the Punjab police for what had transpired that day.
