Lahore: Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday sacked Judge Arshad Malik who gave a verdict against former premier Nawaz Sharif.
He has been dismissed by the administrative committee of the LHC in a meeting which was held in the Chair of Chief Justice LHC, Justice Qasim Khan.
Seven other judges of the LHC attended the administrative meeting which took a major decision against Judge Arshad Malik.
The most senior judge Muhammad Ameer Bhathi, Justice Aisha A Malik, Justice Shahid Waheed, Justice Ali Baqar Najafi, Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmed Khan and Justice Shujat Ali Khan attended the administrative meeting.
Maryam Nawaz on July 6, 2019, had leaked video against Judge Arshad Malik in a press conference.
Judge Arshad Malik, who had handed a jail term of seven years in the Al-Azizya reference to Nawaz Sharif was a judge of Islamabad accountability court, was first removed from the accountability court on the orders of Chief Justice Islamabad High Court.
The CJ IHC also ordered department inquiry against the judge regarding allegations on him.
Chief Justice Lahore High Court appointed Judge Justice Sardar Ahmed Naeem to carry out a departmental inquiry against the Judge.
