ISLAMABAD, (May 9, 2013): Justice Shaukat Ali Siddiqui will be hearing the contempt of court petition filed against chairman Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority Absar Alam at the Islamabad High Court (IHC) by the former secretary of IHC Bar Association Waqas Malik.
The petitioner argues that Absar Alam said at a press conference that courts are performing works that PEMRA is suppose to perform.
Chairman PEMRA has leveled accusations at higher courts and this attitude of PEMRA chairman is suspicious while he is also involved in anti-Islam activities, the petitioner says. The petitioner further says that chairman PEMRA is a member of Gay Club and this NGO receives foreign funding.
In addition, chairman PEMRA also expressed hate against IHC, the petition says. Chairman PEMRA committed treason vide the press conference yesterday.
Chairman PEMRA has committed contempt of court and an action against him should be taken under Article 6 of the constitution, the petitioners pleads the court.
