Islamabad: Justice Umar Atta Bandial will take charge of 28th Chief Justice of Supreme Court of Pakistan tomorrow,
Justice Umar Atta Bandiyal refused to take oath as pco judge and remained part of vital cases during his career.
President of Pakistan Dr. Arif Alvi appointed Justice Umar Atta Bandial under article 175 of the constitution. Justice Umar Atta Bandial will remain Chief Justice of Pakistan from February 2, 2022 to September 16.
Birth and Education
Umar Atta Bandial born on September 17 1958 in Lahore.
He received early and intermediate education from Pakistan and moved to world renowned Columbia University of America to receive Master Degree in Economics.
Later, he attended Cambridge University in United Kingdom to receive law degree and became a barrister.
Career
Umar Atta Bandial started his career as advocate in Lahore back in 1983 and became a lawyer of Supreme Court of Pakistan after a few years. He appointed as a judge of Lahore High Court in 2004.
He was elevated to Chief Justice Lahore High Court in 2012 and remained on the post till 2014.
His name included in judges who refused to take PCO oath and he appointed as Supreme Court Judge in 2014. After his appointment as a Supreme Court judge he remained part of vital cases.

He remained part of benches who declared Imran Khan as sadiq and Ameen, life time disqualification of Jehangir Tarin, disqualify Nawaz Sharif from his party presidentship,
Justice Bandiyal was also remained head of of benches who disposed off reference against Justice Qazi Faiz Essa and restoring sacked employees.
He also remained part of benches who decided Daska Elections rigging case, presidential reference regarding senate elections.
