MUMBAI: The actress, who is now gearing up for a Jayalalithaa biopic has reportedly been offered a whopping Rs 24 crore for the movie which is the highest for any Bollywood actor in a Southern venture.
On the ‘Queen’ actress’s birthday, it was announced that she is set to be a part of a bilingual based on the legendary actress-turned-politician. The film titled ‘Thalaivi’ in Tamil and ‘Jaya’ in Hindi is written by KV Vijayendra Prasad and will be directed by Vijay.
Reports suggest that Ranaut will be paid Rs 24 crore for the bilingual. Makers are banking on the actress’s star power to reach the pan-Indian audience. Producers have already signed the contract with Ranaut.
While usually artistes from the Hindi film industry are coupled with top stars of South-Indian movies, this time, Ranaut will be the one leading the project.
Reports also suggest that accomplished actresses like Vidya Balan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan were also under consideration for the role. However, producers chose Ranaut, who agreed to be a part of the movie immediately, because of her interest in the former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s life.
The ‘Manikarnika’ actress is currently working on ‘Mental Hai Kya’ and ‘Panga’. After these, the actress will begin with the biopic.
