Karachi Kings Qualify For Play off Phase Beating Quetta Gladiators

KARACHI: Karachi Kings have defeated Quetta Gladiators with one run in final phase of Pakistan Super league fourth edition.

Earlier,  Karachi Kings had set a decent total of 191 runs to chase to Quetta Gladiators.

Quetta Gladiators could touch 189-run mark on the scoreboard after losing 7 wickets while Shaheed Shinwari of Karachi Kings took three match-winning wickets in last over of the match.

Ahmed Shahzad of Quetta Gladiators 99-run in vain as he also bowled by Shaheen Shinwari in the last over.

At one point of the game, it was very much well understood that opener Ahmad Shehzad has finally played a match-winning knock to chase 190 runs. But all it required a rash selfish shot to mid off where Ingram was all prepared to take a safe catch.

Who knew that it was the turning point. The match which appeared to be going in Quetta’s favour all-out changed drastically.

Call it destiny, lack of skills, pressure – but the night belongs to Karachi Kings and Usman Khan Shinwari.

Soon after Shehzad’s dismissal on 99, on the very next ball, Anwar Ali got dismissed. But the final nail in the coffin was when after a ball skipper Sarfraz Ahmed got bowled out.

Sohail Tanveer came on the crease to play the final ball of the innings when three runs were required. He managed to contribute just one with a leg bye.

Spinner Umer Khan also took three wickets in the match.

Quetta Gladiators, Peshawar Zalmi, Islamabad United and Karachi Kings qualify into the Playoffs

Quetta Gladiators had decided to field after winning toss against Karachi kings. Karachi Kings must have to win against Quetta Gladiators to qualify for eliminators round.

Karachi kings scored 190 runs losing five wickets in given 20 over. Babar Azam, Iftikhar Ahmed, Collin Munro remained prominent scorers as they scored, 56, 44 and 30 runs respectively.

Muhammad Husnain of Quetta Gladiators took two wickets.

With this win, Karachi Kings also won the battle for the fourth spot and Lahore Qalandars are out from the race.
