KARACHI: Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Wednesday said that Karachi operation will continue till restoration of complete and sustainable peace.
The COAS said that that gains of Karachi operation will not be allowed to reverse and it will continue till attainment of sustainable peace.
Gen Bajwa visited Corps and Rangers headquarters in Karachi where he was briefed about the accomplishments in the operation and the way forward, said Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Army chief further said that all efforts will be made to consolidate gains made so far during the operations ops, saying remnants of terrorists and their sleeper cells will be eliminated indiscriminately.
Gen Bajwa observed that security in the metropolitan had direct bearing on overall business climate and economic activity of the entire country.
He commended Army, Rangers, law enforcement agencies and intelligence agencies for noticeable improvement in the law and order situation of the metropolis. Gen Bajwa also appreciated the sacrifices of people of Karachi in this regard.
Army chief on the occasion directed focused and synergised efforts of all military and civil intelligence agencies for optimum effects to preempt potential threats to Karachi’s peace.
Gen Bajwa vowed that Pakistan Army will render all assistance to government four capacity building and training of law enforcement agencies for long-term effectiveness against organised crime and enduring peace.
Earlier on Wednesday, Army chief arrived in Karachi for a day-long visit. Gen Bajwa visited Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s mausoleum where he laid a floral wreath and offered prayers. This is the army chief’s first visit to the metropolis since assuming command.
