KARACHI: Police carried out operation in Pak Colony over identification of a detained accused and seized a huge cache of weapon, while DIG West said that there are several reserves of weapons in different areas of Karachi, adding that establishing peace is not possible without their recovery.
Addressing a press conference in Karachi, DIG West Zulfiqar Larik said that police, over identification of detained accused Asadullah, raided a house in Pak Colony, where accused Anwer Haddi and Bilal Bhayya opened fire on police party and escaped, while police recovered a huge cache of weapons hidden in secret portions made between two walls. The weapon belonged to a drug dealer naming Riyasat, while both the detained and fleeing accused belonged to Nabeel Ganja group.
The recovered weapon included Awan bomb, RPG Rocket, different types of machine guns, rifles, pistols and hundreds of bullets. DIG said that there is a need of major operation in different areas of Karachi including Lyari, while the LEAs must be given powers.
Meanwhile, Coast Guard carried out operation at Super Highway over intelligence reports and foiled weapons smuggling attempt in the city. Coast Guard officials stated that the weapon was being shifted in garbage pack of cycle. The recovered weapon included two Kalashnikovs, one mouser, two hand grenades and hundreds of bullets, which were to be used for miscreancy in Karachi.
