Karachi (August 3, 2017): A six-day anti-polio drive has been launched in 13 Union Councils deemed sensitive here. During the drive, which will end at August 8, organized by Sindh Emergency Operation Centre around 1.3 million children will be administered anti-polio drops.
According to Director Health Karachi Dr. Taufeeq around 400,000 children will be administered anti-polio drops in the 13 sensitive Union Councils of Karachi. Gaddap, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, and North Karachi are among these 13 sensitive areas.
Dr. Taufeeq further said that the objective of the this special anti-polio drive is to eradicate the polio virus from the root.
Police and para-military Rangers have been given responsibility to secure the anti-polio teams.
