Kashmir, tension at LoC: Parliament’s joint session begins

ISLAMABAD: The joint session of the Parliament to discuss Kashmir issue and India’s unprovoked aggression at Line of Control (LoC) started at Parliament’s House in Islamabad.

Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq is chairing the joint sitting of both houses of the Parliament.

The session is discussing unprovoked aggression of Indian security forces across the Line of Control and deteriorating situation in Occupied Kashmir.

All parliamentary parties except Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) are attending the session. The PTI has announced boycott of the session, saying that it does not recognize Nawaz Sharif as legitimate Prime Minister and attending the session would amount to giving legitimacy to the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Sources said that opposition and government contacted PTI leadership in a bid to persuade them to participate in the joint session. But the PTI leadership refused to attend the session.
